Mr. October

Yesterday we engaged in a lot of baseball talk like two moms sitting around the living room in their shiny leggings drinking wine and gabbing about shoes and Aquaman.

[Aquaman? WTF?-Ed].

Reader(s) heard references to Derek Jeter being Mr. November.

An explanation is in order for you foreigners.

The previous Yankee dynasty from the 1970s was led by one Reginald Martinez Jackson. Reggie Jackson was the man. He thrived in the post-season. He wanted to be at the plate when the game was on the line, craved the pressure. Over the course of his first three championships with the Oakland Athletics he earned the sobriquet Mr. October, as the post-season is played in October.

In the 1977 World Series Reggie...well...let's just let the bat do the talking:
Reggie! Reggie! Reggie!

And that's why Reggie Jackson is Mr. October.

*With apologies to the LA contingent.
