We're marginally happy with where we have the Dutch Politie chapter.
We still have no idea how they're retaking their town, but that's no problem.
We think following a police cruiser around during a pre-invasion crisis is a good idea. It's a tool we've used before. We like to show what's happening, what people are doing, how they're reacting.
We're interested in the work itself, managing check points, keeping civilians off the road, ordering citizens back inside, dealing with downed Soviet pilots.
But that's how one really gets bogged down. The Politei are called away to help with border control? Ok how do they get there? How long does it take them to get down there? They see Soviet choppers coming over the border to their town? What do they do? How long do they remain at the border? How long would it take for the scene to develop that we want to develop? How long would it take the Soviets to establish control of the town?
It all has to feel right before we're finished.
Which is why we're still struggling with the Barents Sea chapter of Battle of the Three Seas. Something just doesn't feel right, and we have no idea what it is.
At this point we think we probably just need to expand the chapter a little more, 5000 words perhaps?
We'll see.
I know what some of you people are thinking. Don't even. That's bogus man!
Perhaps choppers are hit with sniper fire at turbine engine intakes...be a hard shot but not an impossible one.
