As we write Israelis are voting.
In the last few days Netanyahu said he will annex the large settlement blocs and proclaimed there will be no Palestinian state.
Rather than making the blocs and Palestine themes to be endlessly discussed and dissected he has used these issues to solidify his base at the very end of the campaign.
Well played, sir. Well played indeed.
Do you think those actions may one day in the future turn around and bite him in the ass or not? When you destroy people's hope for a land of their own, wouldn't it lead to a lot of angry young men deciding to take as many civilians with them as possible? I have always feared extremists on either side (left or right) cause tend to take theirs beliefs as articles of faith and blind themselves to the virtues of differing beliefs. My problem with Trump isn't that he is a blustering wind bag with thin skin and an enormous ego, but that he makes policy decisions on what his gut is telling him...Sometimes it was to much grease in dinner and sometimes it was recent polling numbers. He doesn't have a clear set direction that he sticks to he just repeats what makes the masses stroke his ego. If he was halfway effective as a leader, he would have repealed the ACA, built his wall(hows that working out?), been smart enough to make a landmark tax reform. 3 issues and 3 fails....if he would stay on message, get competent secretaries in various departments, and allow his ego to admit that experts would serve him better than yes men.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, what would you say to the 18 year supreme court justice term limits? I understand that barring an amendment it won't happen, but I think it would be a better format than what is currently available. Why RBG and the other left of center Justices didn't leave while Obama was in office will baffle me for a long while. Same for Clarence Thomas under Trump....but that would also hit their egos as well.
