Sweaters Past
My sister and father were cleaning out my mother's closet and found this:
When my brother was a kid, he was obsessed with war. (What do you mean "was?") Anyway, he used to draw these elaborate scenes of planes and tanks and anti-aircraft-whatever, and then he would have the war which involved a lot of heavy artillery fire and explosions in the form of black and red scribbles. One day my grandmother, who in addition to being a Park Avenue socialite and prototype for Driving Miss Daisy, also happened to be an artisan knitter before artisans were in, asked him what kind of sweater he wanted. He asked for a Tank Sweater and drew her a battle which she knitted into the sweater below. And that's all I have to say about that.
