Senators Tim Scott (R, FL) and Marco Rubio (R, FL) are calling for military intervention in Venezuela.
Settle down, they represent a state that has a yuuge Hispanic population and tons of Venezuelan immigrants and ex-pats.
Theirs is a political position which can at least be discussed.
William Stroock dot blogspot dot com opposes direct military intervention in Venezuela but we think indirect military intervention might be desirable.
We're thinking of two incidents from our youth. In 1988 there was a popular uprising against Noriega in Panama. In support of the rebels the US Army blocked some roads and grounded Panamanian aircraft. It didn't work actually, and Noriega survived till we invaded the country.
In 1989 Philippine President Corazon Aquino faced a military coup. USAF Phantoms out of Clark AFB took to the skies to keep rebel aircraft grounded.
That's as far as we'll go.
[That's what she said! -Ed]
I would push for either Columbia or Brazil to intervene
