Will Labors

Happy Labor Day, Stroock's Books reader(s). Our womenfolk are off on a major outlet shopping expedition. It is the wise man who stays home and finds something to do. It's been three weeks. We're going to indulge in an Arturo Fuente and a bottle this afternoon.

For the second time in three days, we've woken with gout. This is one of those weird attacks at the top of the foot. What's up with that? [Stress. You've been wigging out about something trivial again-Ed].

Stroock's Books sports wrap: Mrs. Stroock's Phillies beat the braves 3-2 in extra innings last night, winning three of a four game series. That is what we call 'taking care of business'. The Phillies are now 7 games up on the Braves with a month to go. Also, Breitbart reports on a DirecTV-Disney dispute keeping Disney channels off the satellite provider. We are aware and Mrs. Stroock is seriously pissed as her Phillies were broadcast on ESPN and therefore blacked out. We despise both of these institutions. Can't they both lose?

Hmmm....This blog had an Iranian visitor yesterday. Why not drop us a line and say hello?

As predicted Israel saw major, massive protests yesterday. This is a good thing. Protest is what happens in healthy societies. That being said there are a lot of unsavory sorts in these hostage protests. Leftists who hate Bibi. Israel hating peaceniks. And globalist agitators using the hostage issue to continue last year's color revolution. Remember, Netanyahu was unpopular in Israel before the war began. Though his numbers have improved greatly since 10/7, Bibi's political days are numbered. Rightfully so.

The Jerusalem Post reports: 'The University of Maryland on Sunday reversed its decision to allow an anti-Israel protest on the first anniversary of the October 7 Massacre, following backlash from local Jewish groups.' This October will see nation and world wide anti-Jewish pogroms anyway. The 10/7 genocide anniversary falls between Rosh Hoshana and Yom Kippur. October is going to be a rough month.

We've been doing a lot of hard research on Ireland, the Brits, the Troubles, the Catholics, the Protestants (who are starting to come off like a bunch of wankers), etc. [What lies are they telling?-Ed] Shut up, Ed. Longtime reader(s) will recall our general contempt for Irish sentimentality about the conflict. Still, we thought we'd try our hand at romanticizing the Troubles. Behold:

Bogside...oh Bogside...how many did the Prods slay? Bogside...oh Bogside...how many mums wept today?

Bogside refers to the 1969 Battle of the Bogside, an anti-Catholic pogrom in the city of Derry, or Londonderry if one prefers.

Monday Metal, staying with the land of Eire...: an article about Irish Guitar legend Rory Gallagher, his legacy, and his artifacts: 'The Rory Gallagher Collection auction is due to take place on 17 October this year via Bonhams in London, featuring 150 items. Most importantly, it will see his iconic 1961 Fender Stratocaster go under the hammer, for an estimated sale of £700,000 – 1,000,000.' Here's Slash talking about Rory Gallagher and playing the famed Strat. Below, Rory Gallagher playing Crest of a Wave. Do stick around for that guitar solo. There's nothing quite like it.
