This is because we're observing the Sabbath...ha-ha-ha....yeah sure, it's just the least read day.
Anyway given that we just wrote a post about Trump being lucky we thought we'd give a few notes on today's indictment of General Flynn by Robert Mueller.
Of course our training is scientific not legal so here are some actual lawyers:
John Hinderaker scoffs.
Andy McCarthy mocks.
The Lawfare Blog thinks this is big trouble.
Tom Maguire makes sense.
Legal Insurrection sums it all up.
-Flynn has plead guilty to two charges of lying to the FBI.
-Flynn was facing up to 60 years.
-Flynn must have something serious to get a slap on the wrist.
-A condition of Flynn's deal is he aid the investigation of 'another person'.
-Kushner told Flynn to call the Russians.
-The FBI interviewed Kushner a month ago.
-The next stop according to reports is Jared Kushner.
Kushner is not going to flip on his father-in-law. An indictment of the President's son-in-law would be legal-political trench warfare.
The law blogs we've looked at call this sort of thing 'process crime' in which the Feds indict you for some minor infraction during an interview, investigation and so on.
Mueller has nothing, absolutely nothing on the President, which is why he's running his way up the food chain.
Speculation:
Mueller knows there's no way he's ever getting Kushner so there is someone else on the target list.
*Update and further thought. Mueller has something else, right? There has to be something else. He has to have more then this puny plea by a man who has zero credibility as a witness
Lock her up?
