Here we are cranking out a thousand words for the Battle of the Polish Plain and then another thousand for Pershing's War and wondering why.
Getting one of these books out used to be a glorious. It'd really start when the rough draft got close to completion, we felt excited that we were almost done. Then getting the book threshed out and edited, cover art, etc, etc.
Used to be a book couldn't get released fast enough.
The whole process was tinged with impatience on our part. 'C'mon, c'mon. Let's go, let's go.'
It's always been fun watching the sales come in. We check every morning. The money is nice too, now that we're actually making some.
Honestly, though, of late we're kind of bored with the whole thing. Yawn...more air raids...yawn...another tense cabinet session. Don't you people ever get sick of this stuff? The answer appears to be 'not really'. We're killing characters off and thinking Patricia Bloom will have an affair just out of sheer ennui.
The bottom line here? Fifteen minutes ago the UPS guy put the proof for The Austrian Painter on the stoop. We still haven't roused ourselves to get it.
