Super Bowl XLII

Well today the New England Patriots and the referees will play the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl XLII. Foreign readers, know that the city of Philadelphia is a crap hole. If America ever gets an enema, Philly is where the tube goes in. The City of Brotherly Love? Please, Philadelphia's sports fans would be right at home with a lot of British soccer hooligans. When we watch Rocky, we root for Apollo Creed. During Rocky IV we go full commie. The Eagles are also in the same division as our own NY Giants.

We have another reason for rooting for the Patriots today. As previously mentioned, along with San Francisco 49rs, the Patriots are one of the two teams that have dominated the NFL our entire life. Back in the 1980's, the Niners were almost unbeatable, except against the NY Giants, who were 3-2 against them in the post season. In fact, the Giants twice knocked Niners QB Joe Montana out of playoff games.

Behold:

That hit sent the Giants to Super Bowl XXV.

Anyway, the New England Patriots are 5-2 in the Super Bowl. You know who slapped those two losses on them and tattooed their names on Giselle Bunchen's butt? That's right, baby, Eli Manning and the New York Giants.

I give you The Catch:

The Patriots are the greatest NFL team ever, but they can't beat the Giants. We love that fact.

So we'd be rooting for the Patriots except for one thing: Mrs. Stroock is a an Eagles fan.

I feel dirty.

  1. Given our comparable ages, you forget a dynastic outlier...The Cowboys aka 'that other team from that other Texas city'.

  2. Naaa, by the time the Giants were getting good the Cowboys were getting bad. They only met in the playoffs once, 2007.

  3. Yes, but with the exception of 93 the Giants were bad.
