15 Years ago Today, President Bush came out to Play

So 15 years ago yesterday began Operation Iraqi Freedom. We periodically debate this with ourselves in this space and are having it out with a few people over on Gab.

We see no need to rehash this right now. We guess it comes down to one question. Was it worth it?

About this time 15 years ago we started our first novel, A Line Through the Desert. At the time Desert Storm was 12 years old, it seemed like such a long time. Heh.

2003 was a great year for us. The year before we finished up our BA and began our MA. We started subbing in the Somerset Hills School District, where we wrote tons of stuff. That summer out first magazine article went to print: 'Sparta's Defeat of Athens' in Strategy & Tactics Magazine. We were running, something we never thought we'd be able to do. That summer we were lifting weights in the basement, listening to Led Zeppelin and thinking, it would be kind of cool if we could do that- and now we can.

In ALTD we were rehashing Desert Storm and our own youth. We were turning 30, the previous 12 years seemed like such a long interval of time (a few years later we noticed time seemed to be gaining momentum) and there were things about youth, not just our youth, but youth in general that we missed, thrills and feelings mostly. Those show up in ALTD. By the way, sometime this year the sequel will come out.
