45 and Stayin Alive

We've gone on a bit about turning 45, how it feels different than 44, or 42 or even 40 (which we were proud of, btw).

We finely figured out the term for how we feel, which is well known and obvious: Over the Hill.

Yes, that's it. We don't know why Over the Hill didn't occur to us before.

We have climbed the hill and done some good things, especially since 2001: 100 magazine articles, 11 novels, two short histories, sub-teaching at a HS, teaching at a Yeshiva, college prof, husband, father of three lovely girls.

But we are definitely on the reverse slope and heading down, there's no getting around it. And let's be honest, it's a steep slope.
