A lot is left to the imagination on both sides.
That's a stay at home mom on the cover if we ever saw one. Take a look. She's 30ish, 28-32 let's say. There she is in her sensible mom jeans and her cute little shoes. She's got on a sensible top too, maybe just a T-shirt and a cute enough shoulder length haircut. She's greeting her husband home from Iraq at 4, but dropping off the kids at Karate at 5. She is every SaH Mom ever.
Meanwhile we have a soldier in boots and camo. There's a lot left to woman's imagination. She's picturing a tall, broad shoulder man, easily capable of holding this woman in his arms. We could say more, but we don't think it'd be appropriate.
This Blooms cover might as well be the DVD cover to a movie included with a subscription to O.
At this point the reader is asking, 'Are you really going to go through with this?'
We might, we might.
Mrs. Stroock has expressed concerns.
I think it will work
ReplyDeleteI suggest a "split screen" - half of cover with the combat scene next to the homecoming scene. [Ed., Jr.]
