The kids in the Woods

This weekend we saw many well-wishers, including the parents of an old friend from up the street. We chatted and they pointed out how wonderful it was to grow up there. Quite right. Ours was a great childhood, just a tic or two short of Huck Finn.

Here's the view off the back deck:
Those woods are dry in the winter but a swamp in the summer. You're damn right we played there all times of year, regardless of conditions. The yard in the foreground was the field for countless football games.
