We've been using the Tennessee senate race as a test case all year. This race puts former governor Phil Bredesen (D) against Congresswoman Marsha Blackburn (R).
For much of the year the race was tied, even though Tennessee is a deep red state.
When wave elections happen, the winning party goes into the losing party's home turf and wins. In 1994 the GOP did exactly this in Tennessee, when heart surgeon Bill Frist knocked off the incoming senate majority leader Jim Sasser.
Given Bredesen' s name recognition and general popularity, if the Blue Wave is real we'd be seeing it in Tennessee:
Yeah, no.
