Kamehameha's Navy

Kamehameha's Navy will be a short story in a collection about Native Americans defeating European settlers.

The story takes place midcentury, with the small Hawaiian Navy staving off a Japanese invasion so they don't have to ask America for help.

Kamehameha's Navy is a naval action adventure, largely the author's excuse to write about PT boats, destroyers, troop barges and the like. You could say we're getting our John Ford* on. But Kamehameha's Navy is also about nationalism, identity and pride.

We've done some interesting research on Hawaii which we'll be discussing, including some reading up on the old Bounty and Captain Cook's journals.

*You know the drill.
