In the wake of the Jussie Smolletts hoax, Mollie Hemingway asks.
Well obviously. The elephant in the room for media malfeasance discussions is that many reporters are simply not smart. They fall for hoaxes easily. Over and over and over again They are obviously not well read. That this is combined with a completely unwarranted arrogance compounds the problem.— Mollie (@MZHemingway) February 17, 2019
When we first heard of the alleged hate crime, in which two MAGA hat wearing rednecks were roaming the mean streets of Chicago at 2 AM looking for gay-blacks to beat, bleach and noose, we thought, No way, man. No way.
So then we took the case to William Stroock dot blog spot dot com's crack team of investigators who concluded, 'He's dead, Jim.'
We're talking about a bunch of J-school grads and English majors here. These people have no street smarts whatsoever.
Zero.
Smollett was so obviously hoaxing us it was unbelievably unbelievable. You'd have to be a real moron to believe him.
Or a journalist.
