Britain Humiliated

Steyn says Brexit is dead.

It is not immediately clear to us why this would be the case, but Steyn's pessimism seems well founded.

Britain has been in decline since the Somme and has suffered various humiliations since the Second World War, starting with the exorbitant demands put on it by the US Treasury for a 4 billion pound loan in the late 1940s. The Suez Crisis of 1956 was probably the worst humiliation but the Brexit machinations and betrayal may well top that, as the humiliation is entirely self inflicted.

Perhaps this will be the final indignity?

Next to the headline about Brexit on the Times website is an article about knife crime in the country.

Knife crime.

When we were over there last summer we saw anti-knife posters and even a few drop boxes for those who wanted to turn in their knives. Just today an MP calls GPS trackers in knives.

We think the self abasement will continue.

If you're a Continental, it's impossible not to laugh you butt off at all this. We're going to hoise my EU banner latter to day just for the hell of it.

Talk about self abasement.
