The Dutch Politie chapter is looking OK, but we have to admit something doesn't feel quite right about it.
This chapter is admittedly derivative, of our own work. In To survive the Earth a story revolves around a small town police LT trying to keep order in the aftermath of the Jai invasion.
It's deep winter. The landscape is cold, snowy, sparse, frozen over and filled with winter sun bouncing off the frozen snow and blinding.
Somehow this idea crept into our mind for the Politie chapter. But here the lay of the land would be anything but sparse. There'd be NATO convoys coming through, ambulances coming back, the din of battle to the east and sound of dogfights in the air above.
What do you do when World War III is happening 30 kilometers away?

ReplyDeleteSome people will run away and clog the roads or try to hide. Some will stay. Some will loot or try to settle scores. A few will say it's all a plot by the Americans and some will get ready to welcome the Soviets.
