Dan remembers clearly where he was on the battleship 75 years ago today.
"At Omaha Beach, and we're shelling the guys trying to climb the cliffs and helping them out trying to knock that down,” says Dan. “We finally did and we stayed there. I don't know how many days until they got up and did take it."
Dan not only survived all of that, but was later sent to both Iwo Jima and Okinawa, Japan on the Texas. He survived Japanese Kamikaze pilots there.
