Via the New York Post:
Billionaire supermarket mogul John Catsimatidis’ media group has bought 77 WABC radio in a $12.5 million cash deal, according to an announcement on Thursday.
77 WABC is only worth twelve and a half million?
To quote Hank Hill, what in the hell?
This was once the mightiest radio station in NYC, host of former Mayor Ed Koch's* call in show, Rush Limbaugh's flagship station, and the radio home of the New York Yankees.
Tech is to blame, but so is mismanagement. Limbaugh and the Yankees are gone.
*Subbed once a week by sitting mayor Rudolph Giuliani who would take copious notes as people complained about crime and quality of life issues. You could actually hear him handing a slip of paper to an aide and saying, 'Take care of it.'
