Today we are 46. We stand by yesterday's moroseness, morosity? I dunno...One can surround oneself with all the crap one wants and one still won't necessarily be contented. The brain chemistry don't care.
Given family history, and we take after our mother's side where the men drop dead in their 60's,* we almost dropped dead a few years ago, we're probably 2/3rds of the way along - barring medical advances.
Still, we should count our blessings and they are many. Anyone who friends us on FB knows that.
Cutting our age in half, we would be 23 and the year is 1996, our last good year in college. We wouldn't be 23 again for anything and we don't miss it at all. Ok, this middle aged man misses one thing. Most of those proceeding 23 years were good. In fact we don't think we've had a bad year in nearly a score.
*Our mother's father, for whom we are middle-named, had a heart attack at 65.
Try to enjoy the Birthday anyway. They do get less fun as you get older
