Twenty-years and two days ago we threw ourselves an epic birthday party in which we closed down our own place. God, it was glorious, and fun. Lots of good fun.
The next day New York Yankees right-hander David Cone threw a perfect game. As we lived in Northern Virginia we didn't get to see the game and only learned about it becuase we were in the car. The local sports-radio station broadcast the final three outs, so we heard John Sterling make the call.
The next day we went to our job at CNN's Inside Politics.
The boss called us into his office and informed us he was letting us go at the end of the week. And on our birthday too, SMH.
