We think grand Eastern Front movies are best left to the Russians, who otherwise churn out some pretty schlocky Great Patriotic War films. One can find these on Amazon.
Iwo Jima's been taken care of in the last decade, no? Ditto Guadalcanal.
As Tarawa was an amphibious milestone, and a disastrous one, a film about the planning, staging and execution of the landing could be very technically interesting.
Of course Tarawa featured in The Sands of Iwo Jima, realistically and seamlessly with historical footage, stills from the film have been mistakenly used to illustrate magazine articles about the attack.
