Holding on to 30
The previously reviewed End of Watch has stuck with us all week. Mostly we're enchanted by the Brian and Janet story, from meeting, to falling in love, to getting married, to Janet comforting Brian later on. They're both at or around 30 years old; late 20s?
We're a bit nostalgic for that age ourselves, sentimental even. When we realized that we smiled.
We started A Line through the Desert when we were 29 years old. It reeks with nostalgia for lost youth, for a time of life we had lost touch with. Hold on to 16 as long as you can, John Cougar Mellencamp sung. He was right. You don't ever get to feel that way again.
We like to think ALTD isn't nostalgic.
Back then, 2003, 2004 we comforted ourselves with the idea that one day we'd look back upon being 30 the same way we were looking back at being 16, and we should live in and enjoy the moment.
We were right!
