The Great Yankee Migration

In response to our post about Nueva Jersey doling out free driver's licenses to illegal aliens illegally residing in New Jersey, a member of our Confederate readership invited us to move 'Down South'.

Don't tempt us.

One of our grandmothers was from Western Kentucky (and if you know Kentucky, you know that directional distinction is important) and the other was born in Natches Mississippi and raised in Waterproof Louisiana. Our family has been absentee land-lording down there for more than half a century, on land our forebearers purchased from Confederate officers.* Funny story, we just had a slight legal issue because a contract was done up by Yankee lawyers using English Common Law and of course, Louisiana uses the Napoleonic Code.

Still, we could never join the migrant refugees fleeing liberal regimes up north. We have roots and friends here, family, not to mention the Stroock Northern Strategic Direction in Western Massachusetts. To be honest, we're too much of a Yankee blue-belly, we don't like NASCAR, we prefer the NFL to the college game, Jameson's to Jim Beam. We'd be a flop as a southerner.

Still sometimes we dream, we dream, and yes Tennessee sounds about right.

*Carpet bagging bastards.
