Thursday Commercial Break

We've been saving this all year.

In 1999 Amazon finally figured out how to market itself:
This series of commercials was designed for Baby Boomers who grew up on television variety shows that had in house choirs; say, Dean Martin or Lawrence Welk... What mom and dad were watching while you went out listening to Jefferson Airplane.

This is ironic and hip in the late 90's fashion. These guys are seriously uncool. I wonder if they were all cast extras, or if that's the actual choir singing the songs.

Also, Amazon began as a book and record service. Here's another 90's ironic commercial touting all the other items Amazon carries, Magnetic Whale Art:
