What Will's Watching (Christmas Eve Edition)
The Italian Job (1969)*: A product of time and place, British Cool and all that. Fun, zany, whacky and ridiculous. Michael Caine looks like he's having a great time playing the just sprung Charlie Croker, 'Well I'm glad you're out...I mean back.' For that matter so does Noel Coward as the jailed British crime boss, Mr. Bridger. Benny Hill is in the film just for the hell of it as the professor with a weird fetish. Watch Tony Beckley as Count Freddy caught in the middle trying to manage Croker and Bridger. We love his pink suit. The mini-cooper chase scene is the best car-stunt work we've ever scene. Just a wonderful, farcical comedy. BTW we just visited that prison in Dublin. 4/4
*Don't mention the remake. Just don't
