What Will's Watching

Oceans 12: Hip, smug self-aware and self-satisfied. The plot twist doesn't really make any sense. We don't care. We love this film. The Oceans trilogy builds a world where thieves have a bevy of tricks, each with a recognized name, Lucky-Loo, Irwin Allen. Each caper is greater than the next. 'In the physical universe we occupy, it can't be done.' Ten sensitive guys, each with his own quirks and motivations, all friends. A master-class in building character. The opening 'getting the band back together' montage is hilarious. Accompanied by wacky modern jazz soundtrack. An utterly unique film. 4/4.
