What Will's Watching

Logan Lucky: Another heist movie from Steven Soderbergh. This time two brother's played by Channing Tatum and Adam Driver rob the Charlotte Motor Speedway. This film is all about aesthetics and setting. Logan Lucky takes place in The South. Not the New South, not even the Deep South, just The South. The Logan brothers drink Bud Light, live in trailers, spend their weekends working on their cars and watch NASCAR. Their women folk wear a lot of heavy makeup and dress their little girls up the same for beauty pageants. There is no whiff of snobbery in Logan Lucky. This is not a anthropological jaunt. Not once are these people mocked. Logan Lucky is a celebration of The South as is. When a little girl sings Take me Home, Country Roads the entire room breaks out in song.  This film loves and pays homage to its subject matter. Adam Driver is one hell of an actor. Daniel Craig as an incarcerated bomb expert with a North Carolina twang is hilarious. 4/4
