We believe these are the films that got it right, in so far as we know what the aftermath would look like.
What are we forgetting? Damnation Alley doesn't count. It's a sci-fi movie.
How much of these does one invoke? Actually there will be little background details, things one saw in the background of one of these films that reader's will read in The Great Nuclear War of 1975. We do this all the time. Anyone name an example?
*The British Day After, a horrific nightmare. If one hasn't seen it, don't. Makes The Day After look like a a border skirmish. Also too pessimistic. Populations wouldn't drop to medieval levels.
