6/2/20 in New Jersey, Across the River

Midtown Manhattan was wracked by looters last night. The New York Post* has the story.

For readers outside the area, when you're thinking of Manhattan, this is the Manhattan you're thinking of. The toney shops, the Waldorf Astoria, Grand Central Station, the Garden, Helmsley Tower, the Seagram's building, 30 Rock- lost to the mob.

Meanwhile, NYP was shutting down a park gathering of Hasidic Jews. Bill de Blasio hates Jews of course, but this blog never imagined NYC would have a mayor that actually hates NYC, also people.

This morning Chris Como's brother is blaming De Blasio for the breakdown in public order, 'The NYP and the mayor did not do their job last night,' the smart brother said. Ok, Jerk Store's #1 Fan, where was the National Guard?

Yet another reason why we're only mildly critical of Governor Murphy. He has another test coming up. NJ.com's Andrew Koob reports protests are scheduled throughout the state this week:
Protests against police brutality following the killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis are planned throughout New Jersey over the next few days. Saturday marked the first protests in New Jersey, with thousands of people marching through the streets of Newark chanting ‘No justice, no peace!’ and ‘I can’t breathe’ in a peaceful demonstration against racism and police brutality...Sunday evening came reports of groups taking to the streets of Trenton and Atlantic City to smash window, loot stores and set vehicles on fire. Some communities that saw protests earlier in the day, including Glassboro, Pitman, Rahway and Linden, did not report in violence afterward.
*Paper of record.
