6/8/20 In Great Barrington

There was a BLM/George Floyd protest here in Great Barrington* last weekend. Heather Bellow of The Berkshire Eagle has the story:
At least 1,000 packed the lawn at Town Hall on a scorching Saturday for the third of the county's Black Lives Matter protests. This one also sponsored by the NAACP Berkshire County Branch, and organized by Calista Nelson, 17, with help from her friend, Langston Stahler, 18, of New York City. Peaceful, yet ardent, demonstrators spilled over onto the sidewalks up and down Main Street, while Berkshire Bateria's drumming resounded. There was also silence, some kneeled in the road to mark a moment of silence — for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. And soon, a group of at least 50 peeled off and marched to the town police station, where at least three state police cruisers were parked out back. Lee Police were also seen in the area.
Good. Good on them. We were in our motorboat rafting with the girls.

Great Barrington is an old town, popular in the late 19th century and early 20th, fallen after WWII, and risen after the Cold War. There's a lot of gentrification here. GB is quite popular with the NYC set. We've been here since 1973, when it wasn't popular.

The Berkshire chapter of the NAACP was at the protest. Here's what chapter president Dennis Powell had to say:
Powell also blamed American pro-Israeli groups like the Anti-Defamation League for funding training for U.S. law enforcement to teach such restraint and other tactics. "To my Jewish brothers and sisters, I urge you to write to these organizations to tell them to stop funding and training our police in terrorist techniques, because our American citizens are not terrorists."
Of course. There's a lotta Juden-Hass out there, no? We've taken a few actions and will update reader(s) as events warrant.

*Lake Buel is actually up the mountain in Monterey.
