Georgia on My Mind

No, not that one.

[You went with an overused and cliched headline. That's bad writing, but the lead sentence partly mitigates that -Ed]

The Republic of Georgia, the SSR of Georgia. We've found ourselves having to research domestic Georgian politics. In this effort we've been aided by PJ O'Rourke, who was in Georgia during their Revolution in 1991. We're not going too far with this, just a name or too, and few details on the ground.

Georgia had a National Guard, which O'Rourke likened to an army of middle-aged duck hunters. Most of the Soviet Army stationed in the Trans-Caucasus District will be at the Turkish front or sent elsewhere. One other factor we hadn't thought about till yesterday...Chechens. This should be fun.
