Monday Metal Down at the Crossroads....

Crossroads, as in the crossroads at Clarksdale Mississippi, the birthplace of blues guitar. You see, Robert Johnson knew nothing about guitar, but went to Clarksdale where he sold his sold to the devil for his guitar chops. Now you may not believe it's true, but you'd have to believe Robert Johnson and the Devil were liars.

Which brings us to the 1986 Ralph Machio film, Crossroads:
Machio is a young guitar student who uses his classical music training to defeat, well, the devil. You can hear it at the end of the clip. That's Beethoven, Bach, Shubert and all the rest. Steve Vai is a guitar virtuoso himself and it is in fact he who wrote and played both guitar parts.
