Chindian 4th of July...

...or USA-AOK

What was supposed to be a low-key July 4th turned into an impromptu block party with beer, music, and lots of fireworks. The girls of the block danced and danced to horrific modern pop music. The local fireworks were cancelled this year thanks to Murderous Murphy's fearmongering. But all throughout Chindia, people set off their own fireworks. It was like the 4th of July, Chinese New Year and Diwali all rolled into one. Our little girls really liked the rainbow sparklers.

It's a great thing being part of a Chindian 4th of July with friends and neighbors from India, China, Russia, France* and Vietnam**. Of all of us, I believe only two couples were born in the United States.
*Were breaking out the Tri-Colour on Bastille Day.
** Tommy was in Saigon when the NVA rolled in.
