The Thursday Downer

This morning we were at the podiatrist getting a cortisone shot* when we spotted an old fashion Detecto scale. At our gym and at home three different electronic scales tell us we weigh about 235 lbs, but we didn't believe them. So we hopped on he old fashioned Detecto scale and set it for 250. Nope, we had to reset for 200 and sure enough, it showed 235 lbs. Bam. We weigh 235 lbs. We lost 25 pounds during the lockdown. We have no idea how, but there it is.

A win.

Last week we confessed to suffering from the big D, Depression.** Pro-tip, never blog after midnight or before six. Anyway, we've had it our entire adult life, literally since puberty.  Throw depression on top of normal adolescence and the result is....pain. Just constant, insufferable pain that makes no sense. We used to think adolescence was like that for all boys, but as we got older, into our 30s when we were willing to think about being 15 again, we realized, no. Nope, that wasn't normal.

But it seemed normal to us, and in the coming years we'd think nothing of being laid up on the couch for a couple of days, flipping channels to no purpose, wondering what we should do with ourselves and what we were doing wrong. Doesn't that happen to everybody?

Another pro-tip: depression never goes away.

*Plantar fasciitis. Mother!@#@%$

**Once again, Bill Whittle. That's it. Just watch that.
