Ah, Pearl Harbor Day. A long time ago now. In 8th grade we had a teacher whose dad was there. Our southern grandmother never forgave the Japs, as she said, and refused to buy Japanese products. She never forgave the Yankees either, but ok. We have Chinese neighbors right now who refuse to do same. No one ever cries for Nanking or Manila, but Hiroshima? Oh sure....
The Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor was a brilliant bit of planning and daring-do. There we said it. We've remarked before that they should have followed up the sneak attack with a landing of two divisions on Oahu's North Shore. We don't know about the rest of the islands, but the Japanese certainly could have taken Oahu.
