Things Various

So after returning bloodwork with a 641 triglyceride count (about three times the safe limit) we had an appointment with the guy who ran a wire up our arm, shot some dye into our heart and said, '95% blockage'. We've lost 10-12 pounds since our last visit, our blood pressure and EKG were fine. Cut back on carbs, he said.

Zerohedge  tells us that Joe wants a $2 trillion stimulus. Barry Soetoro's $750 billion stimulus of 2010 worked so well. Are these people capable of learning?  To ask the question is to answer it. They'll create another $2 trillion out of nothing. We just don't see how this can go on. We asked a friend who knows about these things and he replied, 'Until the printing press breaks.' Oh hell, why not? Remember, the French Revolution began when the nobles made Louis call the Estates General together to do something about the debt. First slowly, then all at once.

It seems the Israelis are seeing Trump out of the White House with a bang. The Times of Israel reports:  "Over the past two and a half weeks, Israel has reportedly conducted at least four rounds of airstrikes on Iran-linked sites in Syria, including a major bombardment in the predawn hours of Wednesday morning according to media outlets there, in a major step up from the normal scope and frequency of attacks. Wednesday’s attack was a major operation against Iran’s efforts to establish a permanent military presence in the country, one of the largest reported Israeli airstrikes in years, with over 15 sites bombed in eastern Syria some 500 kilometers (300 miles) from Israel, according to Syrian reports." Dang. This blog interprets the move as a frantic effort to finish things up before Joe takes office. But who knows. It's nice to see either way. Ah the irony, Arabs dying for Persian ambition. Is it worth it, Assad?

We itch, we prevaricate, we vacillate...just what book do we want to 'sneak in' and write this summer? Saddam's War is just sitting there, research and all. But The Weser, The Weser. We really think we could get the rough done in 10 weeks are so. There's no need to make a decision now, but it's fun to think about.

Meanwhile we're hammering away at The Great Nuclear War of 1975, Part I. We weren't as pleased yesterday as we were on Tuesday. The Brit stuff is coming along just fine. We even found something for Enoch Powell to do. In editing, we have this nagging feeling summed up with the question, 'Can we write this better?' It's overthinking, really. There's every reason to let good sentences lie. This ain't high literature. If we get volume I done by the end of this month, we can probably get volume II done by the end of next month.
