Saturday Medical and literary Updates

We took daughters two and three to the pool yesterday. Daughter one is 14 and far too cool for that sort of thing. Also she was baking for her BFF's birthday party today. She's sweet like that. We all played in the water and got some sun. Dad was talked into ice cream from the snack shack. Dad score: Mom Shaking her Head. This is gonna be the summer of, 'You're not spending all goddamn day on your phone'. Actually, during the home learning phase of the Fauci Flu, we kept them off electronics till noon. 'You're going to watch the nature documentary and like it, god damnit.'

Mrs. Stroock is maybe 75% (we uptalked that number). Yesterday someone from the synagogue dropped off some soup. Which was nice. The neighborhood has been super supportive.

Last night the neighborhood dads got together for the consumption of meat and the drinking of libations. There were eight of us altogether. There was talk of getting a belly dancer. Commonsense prevailed. For illustrative purposes, there were four Indians (Bengal Gujarat, Telgu), two men of decidedly northern European stock, (me and Dave) one Vietnamese (who was in Saigon when it fell), and the new guy from Ghana (by way of London). Ain't that America...We left at 11. Sadly one of the group is moving to North Carolina on Monday.

World War 1990: The Weser is 19,000 words. We're going to break our no working on the weekend rule and work on the weekend. We might be able to finish the American chapter by the end of the month. Remember, all the 8th Infantry Division needs to do is stop the lead Soviet division. There doesn't need to be a big climactic battle scene. So we're in good shape there.

We also need to spend some mental time thinking about what the British chapter will be like. We really don't know, other than the East German side being shown by the 9th Panzer Division commander.

Emergency medical circumstances being what they are, we only got through one chapter of The Great Nuclear War of 1975 this week. We should still be able to get the thing read through by the end of the month, though. Then we spend July fixing, adding, etc etc.

To be frank, nagging feelings don't matter. Unless we're scrapping or doing major, major rewrites, this is the novel.  At some point, one must needs have faith in one's already proven skills. We are among the best there is at what we do. If we thought of it, it's probably a good idea. If we wrote it, it's probably pretty good. End File!*

*If anyone gets that reference we'll be seriously impressed.
