As expected the Canadian people have returned a Liberal Minority government. You've elected Prime Minister Blackie Dress-up Game three times now, Cannucks. You don't ever get to make fun of the United States again, for anything. Stay on your side of the border.*
The Conservatives made a strong showing, with wet Erin O'Toole winning more of the popular vote than Justin. [A real big girl's blouse Erin is. -Ed] Maxime Bernier's PPC got over 800,000 votes, more than twice the Green's vote total. Overall Justin's 3rd ministry will look much like his second. As the great Rex Murphy has asked, what was the point of all this?
On a side note, it's remarkable that a Western Democracy can have an election, count all the votes and know the outcome within hours of the polls closing. America has a 3rd World electoral system run by imitation equatorial kleptocrats.
We spent a good part of yesterday running our dance taxi service, and used the occasion to listen to bits of Use Your Illusion that we hadn't heard in 15 years. The albums are weird in this respect, the producers seem to have just ordered the songs any old way. It's as if Axl was tossing spaghetti against the wall and randomly putting it on the plate. The song order has no rhyme or flow. Or maybe it's just Axl's rhyme and flow and that's why one doesn't understand it.
Here's a GnR deep track just bristling with anger and fear of the music industry, Hollywood, and fame. Lost in the Garden of Eden sounds like a paranoid punk song. We love Duff and Slash
An interesting and fun video, no? Intense and manic, just like Axl.
*That's Fidel Castro's kid. Pierre Trudeau was great in his own way, and he knew what to do with intransigent Qs (that is deliberate and calculated disrespect on this blog's part). 'Just watch me.'
