Writing Now and Later

We got back to the gym yesterday for the first time in a month. Our hour on the treadmill went swimmingly and we hardly noticed the time. We were pretty sore last night but less so this morning. Just a great run overall. We found our brain wandering to the little desert merc novel we mentioned yesterday. Perhaps that's our summer sneak in.

We can write most anything. It all comes down to what we feel we must need write. By next June we'll have published 75, The Final Storm, 76, and The Weser. What do we want to do in the autumn of 2022? It's never too early to start planning these things. What's the game plan for 2022 going onto 2023. It's probably time to update the Future Projects page. Perhaps someday, but not today.

We see San Fan Nan has scheduled the vote on the various spending boondoggles for Thursday. We wondered if this was merely kabuki. But observers whom we trust and are generally pessimistic don't think this is kabuki. This blog believes something will pass but has no idea what. We remind reader(s) that this blog is 100% comfortable with a government shutdown. Default on the debt. Nothing will happen. Or maybe it will mean financial Armageddon.

Yesterday morning we saw Mrs. Stroock packing up Oldest Daughter's computer.

We asked, 'Did she forget her computer?"

'Yes.'

'I'm going to the high school, aren't I?'

'Uh-huh.'

We had a moment afterwards. 1991, parking at our high school listening to Guns N Roses. 2021, parking at our daughter's high school listening to Guns N Roses. The circle is complete.

By the way, the high school is just one of many places in town that require masks. We walked into the lobby sans mask and halfway expected to be tackled by the school cop. But as always, nobody said nothing. Passive resistance. Small acts of resistance...probably lead to nothing. But at least we're good with ourselves.
