Flaming Knees and Careers

We woke up last night with an inflamed knee. Took about an hour to get that calmed down while watching an episode of Survivorman. By Pierre Trudeau's ghost, we love Survivorman.

Raiders coach Jon Gruden is out because he said mean things in emails. He had a whopping 10 year, $10 million contract with the Raiders. Which was outrageous. Gruden won a Super Bowl in 2002 with Tampa Bay but he wasn't that good. He wasn't better than Tom Coughlin, that's for sure. Gruden was a terrible broadcaster, with zero self awareness who talked too much and spoke in coach-speak and clichés. He added nothing.  Football is better off without Jon Gruden. Football is also better off without Will.

Will Writes:  An editor friend once told us, 'There is no such thing as a perfect book.' Indeed. We bet Orwell (whom we consider the best 20th century English Author*) hedged about everyone of his books before going to print. We don't like to generalize about authors and writing, but we will say if one thinks one work is perfect, one is wrong.

You know, we're really starting to think that after October we should turn out attention back to The Weser and focus on getting that our by 15 December. At this moment it's a lot closer to completion than The Final Storm. There is no reason why we can't do a scene a day in The Final Storm and get The Weser ready to go. We hate the idea of not putting out a book in 2021 (increasingly unlikely), but we love the idea of the 2022 book tsunami.
