The writer wants things.
The writer has plans.
Reader(s) know we are grinding away at two nuke books and World War 1990: The Weser. Last year we published World War 1990: Battle of the Three Seas, Seven Stories, and then World War 1990: Nederland. We began The Great Nuclear War of 1975 in 2020, and it metastasized into two novels. The editor has 75 and we're wrapping up 76.
It occurred to us yesterday that we're best known as the World War 1990 guy. Don't believe us? Below is a chart showing lifetime sales of our World War 1990 novels. Note we didn't get on kindle till 2017.
That's all 7 WW1990 novels. We had a great 2021 and didn't even publish. What the actual...
We said we'd write a thousand nuke words yesterday. We sat down and came up with...nada. We had no ju-ju whatsoever. But you know what generates buzz within? World War 1990: Battle of the Giuk Gap?
[Where are you going with this?-Ed]
Reader(s) know damn well that we plan to have 75 out first. But we're thinking that's a bad idea. The last novel of ours a fan picked up was World War 1990: Nederland. That fan is probably waiting for another World War 1990 novel. If they get an alert that William Stroock has a new novel out and think, 'Thank god. I wanted to see what happened with the Dutch' only to see something about a nuclear war in 1975...Let's just say the reaction could be pretty negative. 'What the fuck is this? Who the fuck are these people? Nelson effing Rockefeller.'
Maybe the next book should be a World War 1990 book. The Weser is closest to ready. But the next book should be The Final Storm.
[Well you better get to work-Ed]
