We Template, we Ramble

We have spent today staring into a creative abyss. We had wanted very badly to start working on something related to our third nuclear war novel. We got nothing. Well, not quite nothing. We see some minor creative percolations...mostly foreign stuff, and that is good. After all, as we asked a fellow North American, how much desolation and despair can we show?

The obvious answer to this problem is to write about hope and optimism. But that's the whole point of The Great Salvation of 1976, which ends in 1977 with Rockefeller getting elected in his own right. So what happens in '78, '79, '80, '81.  We know one of those chapter years will focus on a foreign war. The Israelis [Again?-Ed]. The South Africans? [Also again?-Ed] Both of whom used nukes in 75.

Okay, what's happening? 

Africa is probably a complete mess, more than usual, I mean. Civil War in Nigeria, Congo...

The Commonwealth is drifting back toward London, or Manchester anyway. It's united to ship grain to India to keep the subcontinent from starving. 

West Germany is reuniting Germany by force.

The French, being French, are envious of John Bull and Fritz Fischer.  

China is reeling from fallout and starvation. They're in no shape to do anything to anyone.

India is strong enough to hold itself together. 

There's probably revolution in Iran...hmmm we believe the Ayatollah was exiled to Paris and since Paris was nuked, hmmm...again.

The Koreans, well, let's just say we're taking care of that in 76.

The Israelis nuked the west bank of Suez and are probably holding on to Sinai....so Eretz Israel is here. They should totally pull a Kosovo in Judea/Samaria. [You did that in To Defend the Earth. Someone is going to get the idea you hate Palestinians-Ed] And? Also avoid that word. [What word?-Ed]. The P word. There is no such thing as a 'Palestinian'. There is only a collection of dispirit Arab tribes who lived in and around the desert where Tel Aviv is now. 'Palestinian' is a white supremacist social construct invented by Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem.

That was one hell of a segue. Yes we were THAT guy during our professorial days.
