A Very Israeli 20th

With a horrid terrorist attack in Israel yesterday, The Times of Israel reminds us that 20 years ago right now, the Israelis were conducting Operation Defensive Shield. The operation ended the Second Intefadeh and marked the beginning of the end of Arafat, who would die of AIDS two years later. After two years of sitting around and waiting for the world to condemn Arafat and the PLO, it was glorious to see the Israelis finally do something about the wanton slaughter. The Israeli's breaking point came after 27 March, the Passover Massacre. God bless Ariel Sharon. Had Sharon not suffered a stroke in 2006, well...the Hezbollah War would have turned out differently.

The Clintons spent the 1990s propping up the Palestinian's homosexual leader. They turned Judea/Samaria and Gaza over to Arafat, and browbeat the Israelis into making more and more concessions. Bill and Hillary!. had Arafat over to the White House more than any other foreign leader. When Arafat walked out of the July 2000 Camp David negotiations, Secretary of State Madeline Albright actually chased after the man and shouted for the Marine guards not to let him leave. War was inevitable.

That takes us back...ah spring 2002. We'll be going back a bit next week...events with long term consequences.

Speaking of massacres...The Ruskis bombarded a Ukrainian trains station, killing dozens yesterday. Outrage is universal and condemnation quick. To which Putin replies, so? As predicted, we see the Russian/Ukrainian War morphing into the Yugoslavian Civil War. Back in the 90's the Serbs perpetrated weekly massacres. We think they liked it.

Segue...once again we are flirting with the idea of writing World War 1990: Esercito Italiano this summer. We know some Italian guys who love the idea.

What Will's Watching: Jimmy Savile, A British Horror Story. They got it right in the title. This Netflix doc about Britain's longtime disc jockey, television presenter, philanthropist, and pedophile is extremely well executed. Just like with Weinstein, everyone in the industry knew. They all knew. For interested Yanks, here's Mark Steyn's article on the man a decade ago. This blog's takeaway, there was no man behind the image, just a pedophile. 4/4
