Memorial Day Monday, this Blog's Last

Oh look, post 4950.

Stroock's Books has no insights and nothing profound to say this Memorial Day.

On a family military service note, one grandfather was stationed at Fort Polk, where he met our grandmother. Another was a lieutenant in the 407th AAA battalion and fought in France and the Netherlands. An uncle was in Merrills Marauders. Oh, and our great grandfather, for whom we are named, flew airplanes in the Great War. Note, he flew airplanes for der Kaiser.

We hope to catch They were Expendable later. It's not on later, damnit, and right now AMC is showing The Battle of the Bulge. Ugh. You know, Ike personally disavowed that movie.

We were at a neighborhood barbeque last night. One of our Chinese neighbors was telling us about Chinese Korean War movies. As one can imagine, their perspective is...different. Heh. Years ago, we told him about the Great Famine of the 1960s. He's never heard of it.

The Jerusalem Post reports Jewish riots on Jerusalem Day: 'Violent clashes and chants of “death to Arabs” marred Israel's Jerusalem Day flag march in the city’s capital, the highlight of which was a flag march of 70,000 people. Video from the Damascus Gate showed groups of participants in the march chanting anti-Arab slogans including “Shuafat is on fire,” “Death to Arabs,” “Muhammad is dead” and “the village is burning.”' Yeah but these protests were still mostly peaceful. ♪White riot, I wanna riot. White riot. A riot of my own♪. You hate to see it. Thoughts and prayers.

Well this is a pretty awesome review, even if he gets my name wrong. For those who don't know, those are some serious names in the nuclear war fiction biz:
