Good morning from the Stroock ancestorial beach vacation location, Long Beach Island. We got here yesterday afternoon and managed some pool time before a heck of storm came in. This morning we bask on the porch in the wind off the mighty Atlantic.
Ahhhh....let's see what's happening out there....Knesset dissolution bill, Dobbs rage (these people aren't capable of rational argument or persuasion), someone slapped Rudi on the back...we yawn.
It was 30 years ago today that we graduated high school. We had planned to write something about this. But not now. Not this morning anyway. Well okay. It was the week before that graduation that the Stroock family went down to Long Beach Island to this exact same condo complex. We've been coming here since the 70's. And how many times have we written about that at Stroock's Books? Which is one of the reasons why, when we get to post 5000, just 19 to go...
An unknown commenter asked what our Russian guy, Valery, is pessimistic about. The answer to that question is all the things.
We have been warned that at the Stroock Northern Strategic Direction, plans are underway to launch the family boat, Waterproof.* By plans we mean our boat guy is getting Waterproof ready (not my idea, and we think we should give Waterproof a Viking sendoff) and we've been asked to launch it. We approach the task with great fear and trepidation.
We have been challenged to write an especially challenging what if? Challenge accepted.
Time to get ready for the beach and pool.
*Longtime reader(s) will recall that Waterproof is named after our paternal grandmother's hometown of Waterproof, Louisianna.
I guess I was wondering if he pessimistic about the war? Or does he believe it is going well.
