Cold January Monday without Title

It's Monday, 9 January and it's really feeling like January here. The sun is out and it's cold and windy.

We had a fantastic pair of back to back workouts at the gym this weekend. Were the weather decent we'd reward ourself with an Arturo Fuente Short Story or two and a bottle of chianti.

We've no idea how to start World War 1990: Norway, not that we're starting it today. Norway is unique to the World War 1990 universe as it starts at the beginning of the war. Hmmm...Usually when we mention Moscow or any other Soviet city we remark on drab, barren streets. This might be an opportunity to contrast the war weary Moscow streets of previous novels with streets full of Soviet patriots, well-wishing the troops and urging them on to victory.

Finally. Finally some good goddamn news on World War 1990: The Final Storm. We read the Kremlin and Soviet chapter today, going through their missile system, warning, silos, etc etc. We are pleased. We are actually pleased with what we saw.

Here's a Google Earth clip of Livermore, Kentucky. That's the Green River on the south end. The road on the east end is Route 431. That'll take you north into Owensboro and the Ohio River.

Think of the battle chapter possibilities. We have, for 30+ years.

What Will's Watching: Giants at Eagles. An odd game, which Mrs. Stroock's Eagles could have put away in the first half but didn't. The Giants were resting most of their starters. The Giants defense played tough, though. The Eagles offense played weird, with Quarterback Jalen Hurts trying not to get hurt. Eagles 22, Giants 16. Next week the Eagles are off, while the Giants travel to Minnesota. We give the Giants a puncher's chance.

We spent all weekend thinking about ways to grow our audience. We've got a few ideas, but those go against what we know (or what we think we know) about publishing, marketing and selling books. Israel Strikes is a decade old. Might it be worthwhile to run and ad? We don't know. Doing so is acceptable risk though, and affords the opportunity to learn. We'll look into it. But honestly we keep going around and around and coming up with nada.

Monday Metal. We are informed by high-ranking sources that today is Jimmy Page's 79th birthday. No, we're not posting Led Zeppelin. Instead, here's Most High, from Page and Plant's 1998 album, Going to Clarksdale. Which we discovered in...2003! There we go again. An interesting album. A unique album. Most High is as close as Page and Plant came to the Led Zeppelin days, 18 years gone by the time this album was released. Yes, Plant's voice is shot.
