The Day of Hate has passed. Our rabbi mentioned the day, and the Goyim Defense League, during his sermon. A police car was parked out front of our synagogue. Nothing happened, reports the Jerusalem Post, with in depth coverage of New Jersey. Things are getting worse for Jews here in America and decent folk around the world. We do not expect things to get better. Not for some time.
Our own micro anti-Judenhass effort entails wearing our Israel hat about town and Israel T-shirts to the gym. We're going to a place today where we won't dare where our Israel hat. That place is New York City. Yes, we're soiling our foot in that wretched, choked toilet because Oldest Daughter wants to see The Office: The Musical. We'll report tomorrow. Anyway, when one must worry about being openly Jewish in NYC....
In that vein, Israel Radar reports, 'Israel has finalized plans to attack Iran and is working to improve them with new weapons and munitions, Ynet reports. The IDF designed three different strike operations against Iran and its regional allies, the report says.' We'll bet they have. What can the Israelis do? What are the known knowns, the known unknowns, and of course the unknown, unknowns? And let us not forget what the imams tell us and the Jew.
At the same time massive anti-reform protests continue throughout Israel. Is this the start of a movement or the death-knell of 20th century style secular Judaism? We don't believe the economic threats, gloom and doom. No one's pulling their money out of the Leviathan gas field because Israel changes the way it picks supreme court justices. Pass the reform, nothing will happen.
New York Post columnist Karol Markowiczs has written a very important essay called The New Jew, about political change and the realignment of Jewish voters and attitudes in America. We urge reader(s) to click on through and read it. We'll be discussing Markowiczs' piece all week here at Stroock's Books. Final graph, 'Israel is an imperfect example but it's still instructive. Israel was once a left-leaning country. It is not today. The shift runs parallel to what is happening with Jews in America. Leftism rewards victimhood and the New Jews have decided to be victims no more.' Jews with guns scare people. Also, Jews with fighter jets.
Next week we'll further dissect Little Children. Fascinating film, and book.
The New Jew and Little Children are Will's Good Ideas for the Week of 2/26/23
2023, 2003 and me. Today is the 32nd anniversary of the last tank battle of the 20th century, 73 Easting. We wrote a little novel about it, A Line Through the Desert. 20 years ago next month we started writing A Line Through the Desert. The idea had been kicking around our head for a year or so. And one day...Speaking of attitudes and perceptions of Jews, ALTD has a lot to say about both.
Another reason for you to move South where you would be more welcome as a fellow religion of the book
