The Thursday Downer

Good back to back days at the gym. It seems we've plateaued, even fallen back a bit, performance wise. Is it a matter of effort? Or age?

We can't seem to drop out of the 245-250 pound range. Doing so may require a bigger sacrifice at dinner time than we're willing to make.

Sooooo...We've always been a bit of a homebody. More so over time.  By the 2000s and 20102 this grew to borderline agoraphobia. We just didn't want to go anywhere. The physical act was too much trouble. Too much could go wrong. We'd feel genuine worry, anxiety, etc etc.

By the late teens we'd had enough of this and about the time we began a new medication regime, we decided to tackle the agoraphobia problem. In 2018 we took a trip to Paris and London. In 2019 we went to Ireland. We planned a return to the Continent in 2020, but 'Doctor' Fauci's flu cancelled that and all subsequent trips.

We still get anxious at the thought of big plans, or little ones. In the last year we've taken Oldest Daughter to a rock concert, taken ourselves to a rock concert, taken Oldest Daughter to a Manhattan show and served as a judge in oldest daughter's debates and gone to Disney World. All these excursions required time, planning, and travel. In each instance we felt rising anxiety as the event approached.

It seems no amount of therapy, medication, or time will fix this problem.

Things I'd like to say in earnest: That ball is high...it is far...it is...Gone! - with respects to Mr. John Sterling, voice of the New York Yankees.

In Ukraine, Russia is about to finish the Bakhmut campaign. This blog has long supposed that Russia is using Bakhmut to bleed Ukraine preparatory for an offensive elsewhere. Sorry, we just see a lot of pro-Ukraine wish-casting. Might we suggest Russia try to do what it tried to do last February, with an VDV assault/overland drive on Kiev? Taking Kiev would be a knockout blow, no?

Staying on the Russian front, The Daily Mail reports: 'As British supermarkets ration eggs and an array of fruit and vegetables amid shortages provoked in large part by the Ukraine war, no such hardships afflict Vladimir Putin's citizens.' Europe has only partially stopped buying Russian oil and gas, while the Ruskis have found other markets for same. The Limeys are rationing and the Ruskis aren't, which is hilarious.

Exit question, how much will the elites freak if Russia wins?
